Betsy Hoats, Managing Director

Betsy Hoats combines an adventurous nature with a powerful academic pedigree and an outside-the-box professional background. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Applied Voice from the Eastman School of Music and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

Betsy’s musical background includes vocal study with Thomas Paul, Jonita Lattimore, and Nicole Philibosian; and historical performance practice study with Paul O’Dette, Christel Thielmann, and Malcolm Bilson. She is a 20-year member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus and a former member of Bella Voce under Anne Heider.

Having spent the past 20 years working full time in the parachute industry as a small business owner, FAA Master Parachute Rigger, and client support specialist, with clients ranging from individuals to government entities, Betsy is excited to bring her management experience and insight to Bella Voce, an ensemble whose work she has admired since her teens.

A passionate adventure-seeker in her spare time, Betsy can sometimes be found plummeting toward Illinois’ corn and bean fields, sailing the waters of Lake Michigan, or hiking nearby trails.
